Workforce Development and Education

Training and Apprenticeships:

World Class Curriculum: We offer a wide variety of training options for specific trades via training modules of study. We use the NCCER curriculum and learning resources, which meet or exceed national industry standards, and which are developed by national Subject Matter Experts.

Expert Instructors: We use experienced and knowledgeable journey-level craft professionals who complete NCCER certification to teach for ABC Central Ohio.

National Credentials: We are an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor and, as such, award globally recognized craft credentials and certificates upon completion of each level of study. Our training programs are federally certified by the US Department of Veteran Affairs.

Formal Apprenticeships: We offer formal construction apprenticeship programs through the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship and the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council.

Management Training: In conjunction with Strategic Business Directs, we have developed a phased program designed to assist companies in promoting workers to management roles. Each management training plan is customized according to employee strengths and needs. Our management training program ensures that employees entering management positions are fully prepared for their new responsibilities.

Career and Technical High Schools: We build partnerships with area High Schools to make career and technical education a viable and desirable option for high school graduates. Job opportunities in the construction field are endless, offering careers with huge earning-potentials. We encourage students to earn while they learn through an accredited and DOL recognized Apprenticeship Training Program, eliminating the need for a traditional college degree.

The Ohio Construction Academy: Founded by the ABC Central Ohio in 2013, OCA is a career technical charter school that offers high school students an innovative educational opportunity to explore construction-related careers through an excellent academic foundation, combined with rigorous contextual, hands-on construction education.

Tuition-Free College Credit: We offer an articulation with Columbus State Community College, which allows enrolled apprentices to earn tuition-free credit toward a construction-related Associate Degree.

Safety Education & Training:

When it comes to safety education and training, ABC Central Ohio provides seminars on a number of safety topics in the areas of trenching & shoring, confined space, hazcom, scaffolding, falls, OSHA 10 and 30 hour classes, and much more to help your company comply with all OSHA regulations.
