Every year toward the end of July, the ABC Central Ohio mails paper applications inviting members to participate in our annual Excellence in Construction awards banquet. This banquet, held at the beginning of November, celebrates some of the very best projects undertaken in Central Ohio. In addition to this being an opportunity for us to recognize our member’s work, this banquet ultimately allows ABC Central Ohio to better show our political leaders that ABC members are responsible for building our communities.

This year, the response to COVID-19 has without a doubt impacted our ability to host the events that you have come to expect and it is as yet unknown whether we will host an in-person event for this year’s Excellence in Construction. However, this uncertainly will not prevent us from accepting nominations, nor will it stop us from judging and awarding them as we have always done. To that end, I am writing to invite you to submit your projects for our 2020 awards season by using our new Two-Step online registration and submission process.

Step One is a simple form registering your intent to compete. Once filed, you will directed to a confirmation page with the message “Some of your Applications require additional information.” You may click on the link to continue to the application itself (Step Two), or you may log into your Dashboard to complete it at a later date.

Only ABC contractor members are eligible to enter. Projects completed through a joint venture must include a statement in the Project Information Section that outlining the ownership percentage and responsibilities of each partner. If the majority partner is an ABC member but not all partners are ABC members, only the majority contractor is eligible to enter.

IMPORTANT: A company that experiences a safety-related fatality of a direct employee in the United States within the current program year is NOT eligible for an Excellence in Construction Award. If a subsidiary is a direct ABC member versus part of a larger holding company member, then the subsidiary with a safety-related fatality is not eligible, but another subsidiary of the same holding company may be. No project that involves prime, multi-prime or sub-trade contractors with a safety-related fatality is eligible to be considered for an award.
